Serves as Clerk to the Counry Board and maintains the records of all their meetings.In addition, the Clerk's office is also responsible for:. Filing of notary public commissions. Issuing marriage licenses. Assumed Business Name certificates. Campaign disclosure material. Statement of Economic Interest. Petitions for nomination of election.State of Illinois.Illinois Secretary of State.Illinois State Board of Elections.Grundy County Vote Totals.Recorder's Division.The Recorder's Office is established by Illinois State statute as the legal repository for land records in Grundy County. In essence, we are a government library for documents concerning the ownership of property. When a document is recorded, our office assigns it a unique Document Recording Number, and then enters the document information into a county-wide database. Copies of the actual document are stored on digital media, and the original is returned to the owner. The Office stores copies of recorded documents dating back to Grundy County's inception in 1841. We can provide copies of all documents on record, per our set fee schedule. The County Clerk's division is responsible for vital records, county board and tax related records as well as voter registration and the conduct of all elections. The County Clerk also serves as the Local Registrar.The Recorder's division deals with recording legal land record documents such as deeds, mortgages, plats of subdivisions, liens and releases, along with military discharge papers.The County Clerk and Recorder and her staff are committed to the highest level of professionalism in customer service while maintaining and preserving the many records filed and recorded with them. Fees for these services are set by State statute and County ordinance. In most cases copies are available for purchase.Clerk's Division.The Grundy County Clerk is elected by the citizens of Grundy County for a four-year term, as set forth in the Constitution of the State of Illinois.The Clerk's office has six (6) major functions:.Local Registrar. Appointed by the State Registrar of Vital Records. All birth, deaths, and fetal deaths are filed with the Local Registrar at the time of the occurrence and transmitted to the State Registrar of Vital Records on a monthly basis.
