Your Sheriff's Office also provides law enforcement services which patrol 357 square miles where about 60,000 people reside. For faster operations, officers have access to 7 strategically placed sub-stations throughout the county which were constructed by the providing Townships. The officers use these stations to write reports, conduct interviews and conduct investigation follow ups. Deputies also provide security, and crowd control for special events such as county fairs and sporting events.The Sheriff's Office is primarily responsible for the service of legal documents in the State. This includes summons and subpoenas. The Sheriffs Office also handles evictions, repossessions, and seizure/sale of property as ordered by the court. The Sheriff's Office is located at 9896 Murray Ridge Road in Elyria, Ohio and is staffed with approximately 242 employees and has a yearly budget of approximately $18.8 million.By law, the Sheriff's Office has charge of the jail, maintains a secure court system, transports thousands of prisoners each year to and from state institutions, holding facilities, courts, and handles extraditions from other states. The 24 hour-a-day full service correctional facility houses up to 422 male and female inmates.
