With over 120,000 full time residents, countless commuters, and visitors  every day, the Sheriff's Department does all it can to ensure those people enjoy a safe and memorable experience in our area. Community service is a cornerstone philosophy of our department, and all of our employees take pride in that idea.

Sheboygan County, located on the western shores of Lake Michigan, was first established on December 17, 1838, two years after the area was detached from Brown County by an act of territorial legislation. Today's boundaries of the county are still those established in 1838. The first township, the Town of Sheboygan, encompassed the entire county. Currently, Sheboygan County has fifteen townships, plus thirteen municipalities.
