$ 0.75.E-mailed Property Record Card . $ 0.75.In FY 2001-2002 the Tax Assessors office conducted a county-wide revaluation of real property. North Carolina General Statutes require that real property be assessed at market value at least every eight years. It had been seven years since the last revaluation in Transylvania County. Five members of the Tax Assessors ten-person staff worked directly on the revaluation of approximately 30,000 property records, and the entire staff became involved during the 2,868 informal hearings that followed the issuance of the property tax appraisals. The appeal process will continue throughout the remainder of the year. Of North Carolinas 100 counties, only 40 do revaluations with their own staff rather than through outside appraisers. It is estimated that the county saved approximately $500,000 by doing the revaluation in-house versus outsourced. Overall real property in the county increased in value by an average of 49%.
